carpet beetle insect::The larvae can vary from light yellow to golden to dark brown.The larvae bodies are tapered from the head to the posterior.
The female black beetles lays around 100 eggs which hatch in around 12 to 15 days.
Only one generation of black beetles is produced each year.
As with other carpet beetle species, it is the larvae that eats fibers.
They are particularly drawn to natural animal fibers like wool, mohair, cashmere, fur, feathers and down.
As soon as the eggs hatch the larvae begins to eat.
They prefer dark places and can usually only be found directly on the fabric because they hide in small crevices when not eating.
